[logon] migration from CVS to SVN

dear all,

just a note of caution: as you switch among source trees, say migrate
from the old CVS universe to the fancy new SVN universe (as i think you
should at this point :-), be warned that the PVM daemons ordinarily run
in the background. those daemons encapsulate the value of $LOGONROOT
at the time they were started, i.e. with an old PVM daemon one may end
up running [incr tsdb()] clients from an incorrect (older) directory.

whenever you switch trees or change the location of $LOGONROOT, please
make sure to get a fresh start. a convenient way of doing that is:

  cd $LOGONROOT
  make pure

be warned, though: this will kill all PVM and Lisp processes that run
in your name (on the current machine).

                                                      all best - oe
